New DS for custom avatar, could add a lot more depth to guilds Options

What do you all think of this idea...

There could be custom avatar#.fsh files, numbered one to ten. Then an extra line of DS for changing the triggering furres avatar to custom avatar number # (just like custom sounds and music are done.) This change would last as long as they stay in the dream or until they trigger another line of DS to change it back or to a different custom avatar.

Hope you understood all that, could add so much depth to guilds if certain furres had custom avatars within the guild dreams. Could have a King wearing royal robes and a crown, or the guards wearing a suit of armour, think of all the possibilities.

Hope you take this into concideration.

That would be really cool.. For palaces, like you said, or people who want gender-specific avatars, they could scroll through male or female, or even for the few makeover dreams I've seen.. you could try on different clothes....

The only problem with this is the amount of frames needed, it would make the dream downloads quite large.. I've already seen some dreams with downloads over 2 megs, I'd be scared to think what adding several of these files would do..

I think this is like the idea that Iced Stallion
proposed, while in his search for ideas on
how to get gender avatars into the game?

It IS an interesting idea, and seems like something that
could easily be done, something that wouldn't make the
primary game package download any larger (as happens
whenever a new game-wide avatar is added) and it would
give players a joyful feature for customizing their dreams.

I don't think size should be TOO much of a problem in
most cases... if the FSH files were a single avatar series
per FSH, like the portrait10.fsh of the lapines with wings,
then one avatar FSH added to the patch would probably
only add about 100-200kb before upload compression.
And with the 3 meg limit that exists now on dream
attachments for patches, I don't think there'd need to
be much concern about the total size of the patch folder.

I do kinda like this idea.

Thats what I meant for the custom avatar files, each FSH would be only a single avatar.

What I've found makes dream downloads huge isn't the size of the patch so much as it's the encryption.

I do wish DEP would find a slightly more effecient encryption algorithm; as it is, I basically don't EVER use encryption anymore.  I used it for a bit to keep my DS private so people couldn't undo my locks, but with the "If triggering furre has share power" type conditions in DS, I don't bother.  THey can read all they want, but the only way to get share is to kiss up to me. ;)

Well, actually, you're not the first person to throw out this sort of idea.  I'd posted an idea -similar- before you joined the message boards.

Moreover, does it really matter who came up with a suggestion?  Look at it like this - the more people suggest it, the more likely it is to happen.  Not that I expect this will be too likely to happen, (unfortunately) but.

Note, mine was only similar, as well as allowing additional avatars in dreams, mine would allow custom avatars on ANY map - that would only show up if the other person had the patch as well.

It would be very helpful in RP situations for different positions instead of having people change avatars each time they want to change the way they look :\ I have a feeling many make over dreams will be opening if this is added XD

So.... in your dream make a local species 'male <blah>' for each species blah, and make the default patch female... or the other way around.
